Elizabeth Mitchell Foster (1802, VA-1900) grew up in her native VA and married R. D. Foster in 1820. They remained in Spottsylvania County, VA through the Civil War, where the male members of the Foster family fought on the Confederates side in that war. In 1868 Elizabeth and her husband and other members of the Foster family moved to the Sparta, Mo area. When her husband passed away back in VA (on business) Mrs Foster decided to stay in the Ozarks living most often with her son the Rev Thomas A. Foster who had also moved to Christian County.
