Granville Langley (1847-1937) and his wife Deborah Eaton were living near future Hurley when son Bill Langley was born (b 1875). These Langleys were among the earliest settlers of future Hurley. Granville's dad was James Langley who left his family for the 1849 California Gold Rush and never returned. James's wife Luvisa Proctor raised the children on her own.
